Somme Walking Tours

“The aforementioned themes are those that are closest to my heart. I can guide in English, French and German. I can cater for coach (school) groups or small groups of tourists by offering walking or cycling trails around the battlefields of 3 to 6 hours duration. These are particularly enjoyable as they allow visitors to really get a feel for the battlefields. Walking trails can be done in a loop, so that people can return to their vehicles. However, with coaches, we can either walk in a loop or walk to a distant destination, knowing that the driver can meet us there. I personally feel that this is the best way to see the Somme... by following in soldiers’ footsteps.”

Randonnées - Conférences

« Ce sont les thèmes qui m’intéressent le plus. Je peux guider des groupes (scolaires) et aussi des touristes - en anglais, français ou allemand. Je préfère faire des randonnées à travers les champs de bataille , plutôt que de faire le circuit du souvenir en autocar, car l’ambiance est tout à fait différente et on comprend mieux le déroulement des évènements. Le parcours d’une randonnée peut être fait en boucle afin qu’on puisse retrouver son véhicule. Sinon, pour ceux qui sont en autocar, le chauffeur peut conduire pour nous retrouver à la fin de la marche. »

Begleitete Wanderungen

"Die oben genannten Themen sind jene welche mir besonders am Herzen liegen. Ich veranstalte sowohl Führungen für Schulklassen / Gruppen von Touristen als auch 3 bis 6-stündige Wanderungen über die Schlachtfelder. Diese Wanderungen sind besonders aufschlussreich, da die Besucher hier die besondere Atmosphäre der Kampfplätze erfahren können. Die Exkursionen können als Rundwanderungen organisiert werden, die zum Ausgangspunkt zurückführen; oder als Zielwanderung zu entfernteren Sehenswürdigkeiten, wo der Busfahrer auf uns wartet. Nach meiner persönlichen Aussicht ist das der beste Weg, die Somme-Region zu erleben."
